Homemade Almond Milk

yoggi's way

Ingredients

  • almond milk 51 Cup of Almonds (soaked in cold water over night)
  • 3 Cups of Water
  • 1 Teaspoon of Sweetener (optional)

 Here’s what to do:

  • Soak the almonds over night or for 8 hours.
  • Rinse the almonds and throw away the water.
  • Place almonds in blender and add 3 cups of cold water. Blend until you get a white “milky” solution.
  • almond milk 3Using a cheese-cloth, strain the milk (I used the instrument on the picture, this is what we use in Venezuela to filter coffee..it works just fine!); place cloth over a deep bowl and pour the almond milk; the liquid should go through and the cloth should retain the leftover shredded almonds. Squeeze out as much milk as possible.
  • Place in sealed container and refrigerate!

With the leftover shredded almonds you can make Almond Flour:

  • Place the shredded almonds in the oven at 180 C for about 20 minutes, until dry and toasted.

This week’s Wild Idea Buffalo Recipe of the Week is Italian Buffalo Sausage Stuffed Pasta Shells. Healthy Italian cooking using Wild Idea Italian Buffalo Sausage. Another delicious one from Jill O’Brien of Wild Idea Buffalo! http://wildideabuffalo.com/

Italian Buffalo Sausage Stuffed Pasta ShellsItalian Buffalo Sausage Stuffed Pasta Shells
Italian Buffalo Sausage Stuffed Pasta Shells with Paprika Cream (serves 6)

This dish can be made ahead and heated in the oven for entertaining ease. The ingredients may have you think that it is a heavy, filling, dish, but the mild cheese flavors married with the grass-fed, artisan Buffalo Italian Sausage, touched with a drizzle of the slightly spicy cream, is really quite elegant. You’ll be wanting one more bite, even after you think you have had enough. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 – 1 lb. package Wild Idea Italian Buffalo Sausage
1 – tablespoon olive oil
½ – onion (about ½ cup), finely diced
2 – garlic cloves, minced

Work-Fitness Balance: How to Manage Fitness When You’re Busy

Leading a busy career and working on your feet for long hours can make working out a difficult idea to consider. Impossible, even! On day’s that your feet feel sore, it can be easy, even excusable to skip the gym for a day. But, after awhile, that soon becomes an everyday thing: “I’ll just go tomorrow, I’m too sore today”. Yeah, I’ve been there too. It SUCKS. It could take months to get back into the full swing of things, so the easiest thing to do is to take note from someone who knows. A man with a plan, Marcus is a busy Chef in a busy city, and makes time for his own fitness. In this video, the Chef takes us on a run-through of his workout routine, and how he manages fitness-work balance. Watch it, and see how you can do the same in your life! Enjoy!

Healthy Breakfast!

Goooooood Morning Saturday!

So, like me and anyone who works out or lives a healthy life, you are going to make a nice breakfast. Eggs will no doubt be in the mix. Like any morning, you have scrambled, or fried. To be adventurous, after the hundredth morning, you try adding some pepper. Eventually you graduate to fresh diced chives and sautéed gourmet mushrooms. Yeah, awesome, for sure. But WHY stop there??

No, the adventure continues. There is hope for the “boring egg syndrome”. Here it is, my friends, an answer. Give it a read, give it a try, and let me know what ya think!
